+445 It seems like cell phones have gone from "You could probably run this thing over with your car." to "We highly advise you put a case on this phone because without it it probably won't manage a 3 foot drop onto anything hard." You think with technology now a days it would have gone the other way around, amirite?

This is true! However, the Droid RAZR has a water resistant sufrace, even the electrical boards inside do. So that's a little step in an awesome direction!

I'd much rather have a breakable phone with lots of awesome features than a useless phone that can survive a nuclear explosion. Chances are the phone will become obselete before you break it.

True that. I remember I used to have a nokia N73 a few years ago; it once fell from the window, from the second floor, with no cover on and nothing happened! It just got scratched a little bit from the top, but it was still great; and I've had it for like 2 years already before that happened, so it was pretty old. I bet if my iPhone fell off the balcony now, it would break to pieces; even if there's a cover on it.

it's called planned obselescence (hope i spelled that right) companies want you to break your phones as they aren't supposed to last longer then 2 years. it's the same reason phone companies offer 3 year plans, it's so that after 2 years when your phone is useless, they can sucker you into a new plan because no one pay the fee for breaking contract.

That's what I was going to say...great minds think alike?

My brother's friend still has one of his first cell phones. They used it as a hockey puck once...and it still worked.

I remember in 8th grade (I graduated in '08) my friend wanted a new phone, so we tried EVERYTHING to break her Nextel. Completely submerged in water, dropping it from the 2nd story, & legit running it over with a car. I'm pretty sure that phone still works today lol

There's a phone called the Commando from Verizon i believe. It's pre-made with gorilla glass, it's water proof (you can literally drop it into a pool, dig it out and make a call immediately after). The things a beast and it's smart phone efficient, so it's not all ugly and bulky looking.
