+192 The truth is that no matter how many petitions were signed and the number of protests, if the government wants to pass SOPA to fill their own pockets with money they will, and we can do absolutely nothing about it, amirite?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Well, I wouldn't say there's *nothing* we can do about it. There's always the option of armed revolution, which by the way, is the sole reason I support strong gun-rights as a liberal.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

It's the last and most desperate of the checks and balances.

The problem would be getting everybody off their lazy asses to do something about it. People in Europe riot when they feel like they're being mistreated. Most people in America just bitch about it until they're used to it and then they forget about it. Unless of course it's as easy as reposting something on Facebook or clicking a few buttons to "email a congressman". How many rights must be taken away from people for them to start a revolution?

obama said if it got up to him, he wouldn't pass it. so everything's okay right? RIGHT?!?!

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Didn't Obama say he'd veto it even if it went through the House and Senate and everything? I think we're safe (hopefully).

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Nope. They can override his veto if 2/3 of them vote yes.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

True . . . I'm just going to tell myself that that would never happen. What will I do without my internets?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I don't know what I would do either D:

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Probably be forced to go outside and actually do stuff. . . *shudder*

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Haha that's one of those things that you're like no! Then when you actually do it it's fun. I actually love going out and having a life but people have to force me outside my house

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Haha yeah, I actually do love being outside. I'm not a very social person in that I don't like parties and huge get-togethers and stuff, but I do love the outdoors and camping and traveling and going on walks and even doing semi-social things like going shopping and going to conventions/concerts/etc and so on. But if I didn't have the internet to go back to in the end, I don't know what I'd do!

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Wow, this just made me sound veeeery nerdy . . . I promise it isn't as odd as it sounds . . .

by Anonymous 12 years ago

That's how I am too but I wish there were parties where peopl just talked and hung out instead of getting drunk

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Imagine the dedicated population of the Internet pulling a occupy wall street. That would be sweet. I'd say that would sway some people considering if they would stay with SOPA because their reputation would be trashed.
