If they are going to air a show about commercials, then a regular show should take up the commercial spot.

The point is to pay for the show and advertise their shit. That's what commercials do, they sponsor and sell stuff. It's the same reason every show on TV has commercial breaks.

Yeah, I know. Why not just get the shit loads of companies they're running commercials for and immortalizing as the "Worlds Funniest Commercial"? That's good marketing right there, what company would want to pass that up? Just say: "Hey, we like your commercial and we think it's the funniest, but you have to pay a sum of money because we have to run a show, on the other hand, you get the fame of being seen be millions around the world. Do you want to do it?" What company owner wouldn't say yes? Not a good one.

It would be like a Superbowl spot, except it's cheaper and you get to say: "My commercial's better than yours." Like I said, great way to get your brand internationally recognized.
