+320 You hate when teachers make you grade someone else's test. Why don't you just have your paycheck forwarded to my bank account while you're at it? amirite?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

It's great when your friend gets to grade it for you though :)

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Why do you hate it?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

It's also really awkward when you completely failed and the other person ends up thinking you're an idiot.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

You must have this problem a lot.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Not really. I just don't think it's fair for other people to know something you don't want them to know, like your grades, just because the teacher is too lazy to grade them him/herself.

lol

At least somebody understood that I was joking.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

your name is "joker"... Judging by that name, its so out of character, in fact i'll bet your probably a straight shooter who hates sarcasm and jokes.

Most teachers do this so they can get the tests back to students easier. Most people would rather grade the tests than have to wait 1-2 weeks to get it back

by Anonymous 12 years ago

And then they teach you by reading from the book.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

God, I hated that. I always ended up with the exchange students test with English so horrible I couldnt read it.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I feel really bad though when our teacher makes us grade something like someone else's lab report because if you grade it as fairly as possible and they do horrible, you feel as if they're going to hate you.

Teachers have about 25 students a class and about 6 classes a day, 5 days a week. That's 150 papers to grade a day, 750 a week. Suck it up.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Teachers at my school have 4 classes max, which the majority of them dont even have that much. Now I can understand it is a lot of work, but sometimes it gets to the point where they're just being lazy. I had a teacher who complained about it often and it was just incredibly irritating.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I agree, them complaining about it is annoying. And the number of classes a teacher has is dependent on the school, some schools have 7 classes a day but every teacher only has 4. And as to them being lazy, you get to miss out on 20 minutes of lessons to be given the answer and mark a check every once in a while when their answer is wrong.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

So what? Its the profession that they chose, so why complain about the job you decided on. I understand that it's difficult, but realistically, they wouldn't assign one item that required marking in every single class, every single day, so in the end, the workload of marking isn't that great. Furthermore, don't expect people to just "suck it up". It's not the marking that I, personally, dislike. It's the fact that someone else knows precisely what you got on that assignment/test. I feel that grades, good or bad, should be confidential between the student/family and the teacher.

I understand not liking that someone else knows your grade, and that it is the profession they chose, but is it really so hard to suck it up when they've got a million things to do every once in a while? I dunno about your school, but I get one piece of homework every day, one quiz on the section every week, and one test on the chapter every month, so there is something to grade everyday. A lot of people bitch about the profession they chose, unless they chose to wash and brush unicorns every day, most people work hard. Is it really so bad one kid in your class knows you got a 60 on a test? Are they going to go around telling everyone the paper they graded got a D, and everyone is going to think your a dumb ass because no one else has ever failed before? It's a grade on a single assignment, and people don't gather up to speak about the other student's grade in their class. It's not a big deal, especially when you consider how much work your teachers go through to bring you back a grade. Suck it up. You really think a random student knowing what your quiz grade and doesn't give a fuck about what it is is worse than grading 700 papers a week?

Here's a simple solution; Don't mark every damn piece of homework assigned. That's usually how it works, so as to not overload the teacher. Assign something to do, make sure it is/looks to be completed. Then on a small quiz, make sure they actually know how to do it. Tests come later, but most often they include a Scantron sheet, so marking is again reduced. Sure people complain about their jobs. Such is life, but they deal with it. Why? Because they get paid. Because it is their profession! Besides, when you break it all down, its not that unrealistic to mark quite a few things. Teachers work from about 8:00am to 4:00pm. That's only 8 hours. Also, some of them have multiple spares. Two hours of marking would be a realistic amount of time to spend each night (or during spares), seeing as students spend about that amount of time completing homework each night. Also, yes, it is that bad when one kid knows that you got a 60 on a test. That's because if you wanted them to know, you would tell them. It would be just as bad if someone knew you got a 40, or even an 80 on a test. People judge, and it's just not right having someone random knowing your mark without your consent.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

ha consent. Dude privacy of your grades is not protected legally, like at all. If you could keep your grades private than getting into Harvard might not be that hard. Literally, as a student you waive almost all rights you have too privacy.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Then you can secretly correct their answers and give them an A. And then you could feel like Robin Hood, or something like that.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

He steals from the good students who studied all night and worked for their grade and gives to that one douche who takes naps in class. God bless him!
