i work in a cafe and i always get dumb girls coming in saying 'can i get like a chocolate muffin and like a coke please' i always want to give them something else!

I usually say like when something is similar to something else but at the same time it's not entirely. It's not the correct use but it's better than using it every other word. There can be a middle ground.
