Hunger Game Readers: Admit it, you never really pictured Cinna as Black, amirite?
by Anonymous13 years ago
I really never imagined him as Lenny Kravitz
by Anonymous13 years ago
WAIT-- is he //supposed// to be???
by Anonymous13 years ago
That's how he's casted in the moovie :D
by Anonymous13 years ago
Whoa! *goes and checks book* LOL
by Anonymous13 years ago
I never pictured Katniss as white, either.
by Anonymous13 years ago
She had olive skin. Which is close enough to Jenn-Jenn.
by Anonymous13 years ago
I disagree. She doesn't look nearly as dark as the book described her to me.
by Anonymous13 years ago
I have this weird habit; even if a book describes a character to me a certain way, I tend to ignore it and make up looks for them based on their personality.
by Anonymous13 years ago
I pictured him Italian
by Anonymous13 years ago
I imagined him as Hispanic. I imagined him looking like Jai from Queer Eye, actually.
by Anonymous13 years ago
Not black, maybe, but hispanic. Or some other darker skinned race.
by Anonymous13 years ago
I pictured him as the black guy from "What Not To Wear"...
by Anonymous13 years ago
I pictured him to look like Ru Paul.
by Anonymous13 years ago
He was supposed to have green eyes, and I don't really imagine black guys with green eyes.
by Anonymous13 years ago
They can change their skin color to green in the Capitol...I'm sure they can change their eye color.
by Anonymous13 years ago
But Katniss did like him because he didn't over do it. He just had the gold around his eyes.
by Anonymous13 years ago
But changing your eye color to a natural color wouldn't over do it. Maybe if they were red or white or periwinkle pink...that would be over the top.
by Anonymous13 years ago
Black people can naturally have colored eyes. Genetics, people.
by Anonymous13 years ago
I was pissed about his casting.
by Anonymous13 years ago
I don't think it matters what he looks like (except for handsome,he's supposed to be handsome) just as long as he acts like book Cinna.
by Anonymous13 years ago
White, but not like bright pink white. more like olive-y. and elegant. very elegant.
by Anonymous13 years ago
I didn't picture him black, but I love the casting anyway. I think Mr. Kravitz will do a wonderful job.
by Anonymous13 years ago
I pictured him as a Polish flamboyant male with chin-length blond hair and sparkling green eyes. Also, no matter what the book described him as wearing, I imagined him in a black, long-sleeve sweater and skinny jeans.
by Anonymous13 years ago
I actually forget what I imagined him as. All I remember is that he was slightly lanky/skinny like Lenny
by Anonymous13 years ago
It never mentions in the book what color he is...... so it makes sense in the movie hes black. Plus they can't just have a bunch of white people, some will say there being racist.
by Anonymous13 years ago
*they're
And I suppose that's correct, I mean I don't think they implied him to be Black but just sort of left that one up to the reader.
by Anonymous13 years ago
Yeah, I imagined him white, with white hair actually. I don't really know why, haha. He's one of the only people I'm disappointed about in terms of casting.
I'm sure Lenny Kravitz is a great guy, but he's not Cinna.
by Anonymous13 years ago
I imagined him as Indian.
by Anonymous13 years ago
Speaking of which, did the Indians die out in the Hunger Games world?
by Anonymous13 years ago
The Hunger Games took place in post-apocalyptic America. They never described the rest of the world
by Anonymous13 years ago
There was speculation that maybe parts of the other world survived, but people in the Capitol shut off contact with them to prevent rebellion in the districts.
by Anonymous13 years ago
I imagined him as dark, but on the lighter spectrum of that, with dark eyes and hair that's short, curly, and dark brown. I think Lenny Kravitz fits him well.
by Anonymous13 years ago
I never pictured Rue to be black either, even though the book said she was dark-skinned
by Anonymous13 years ago
For some strange reason, I always pictured Rue as Asian.
by Anonymous13 years ago
Since she was always referenced to Prim, I always imagined her to look kind of like Prim too.
by Anonymous13 years ago
I pictured him like Protozoa from the Zenon movies.
by Anonymous13 years ago
I pictured him as David Tutera.
by Anonymous13 years ago
I don't know, I really always pictured him as black...
by Anonymous13 years ago
No, but because his personality and actions were what made the character unique, I think a black actor will end up portraying him just as well as a white one would.
by Anonymous13 years ago
The only casting choices I have a problem with is Peeta and Haymitch. Josh Hutcherson is just to adolescent for me and Haymitch is so supposed to be paunchy and have a beer belly or something like that which Woody Harrelson just doesn't have.
by Anonymous13 years ago
Hugh Laurie was busy; otherwise he would have been Haymitch.
by Anonymous13 years ago
Josh Hutcherson is Peeta? God dammit.
by Anonymous13 years ago
Guys remember that one episode of Phineas and Ferb where they reunited a band for their parents anniversary? Well remember the guy who was a hairstylist? Somehow at first I kinda pictured Cinna like that guy. Except with blonde hair and olive-toned skin.
by Anonymous13 years ago
I imagined him as Sassy Gay Friend.
by Anonymous13 years ago
Does it really matter in the end, as long as he carries himself like cinna?
by Anonymous13 years ago
No white guy could ever pull off gold eyeliner, so obviously he would have to be black.
