Being even semi-crafty is awesome. After making a simple item, it feels better to use because you know it was made by you, you can customize it exactly how you want, and most of the time you save money, amirite?

I dunno if crafty is the word you're looking for.... Also no it sucks... you'll probably build something and it will work well for a while and something happens to it and it breaks and you will have no insurance/warranty for it, so you will end up paying for it out of pocket, so you will end up spending MORE money and MORE time. I feel like people put more value on money than time... do you know how long it might take you to build something vs how long it will take you to buy it? You're just wasting your life away on peripheral things, for the sake of saving a couple of bucks

I don't think this post was talking about something major that would even come with a warranty. The OP said simple item, so I was thinking maybe a bracelet, headband, birdhouse, clay pot, yada yada.
