Jealousy, turning saints into the sea
Swimming through sick lullabies
Choking on your alibis
But it's just the price I pay
Destiny is calling me
Open up my eager eyes
Cause I'm Mr Brightside
The jealousy and alibis make it sound like she's cheating on him. And Mr. Brightside sounds like a sarcastic way to say it's better to be an optimist about this situation.

Plus the "destiny is calling me" bit is probably saying something along the lines of him needing to follow his destiny and leave the girl because she isn't right for him.
...Great, now I'll be singing this all night.
by Anonymous13 years ago
Ha. I like when it's stuck in my head but yeah about the destiny thing.

I know what you mean. :) I wasnt complaining that it's a bad song (quite the contrarty, actually). I was just complaining because it was late, and I knew I would be hearing it in my head while trying to get to sleep.

Yeah when that happens to me I just turn on the tv
by Anonymous13 years ago
No, to me he sounds like he's being repeatedly tormented by the thought if his ex cheating on him.
by Anonymous13 years ago
I don't think so, but I wouldn't mind him stalking me.
by Anonymous13 years ago
His name is Brandon Flowers...

The Police in Every Breath You Take sounds more like a stalker to me.
by Anonymous13 years ago
Definitely. I love both songs, stalkerish or not.
by Anonymous13 years ago
It was actually about a girl who cheated on him, but on the same album there is a song that is suposed to be sung from a 'stalkers' point of view
