+396 It's kinda dumb how fresh water is the most precious resource, yet we piss and crap into it every day, amirite?

There is only 3% of freshwater on earth, of which less than 1% is available for human use. I don't know why I just told you that, as it really doesn't concern me or you. Dumb science teacher. Peace!

I'm sure the waterless toilet will eventually catch on.

I don't really get why we don't use salt water for that... I guess it's more expensive.

salt water damages pipes and toilets unless they are specially treated, which costs more, and we don't use un-purified fresh water because theoretically the water could ferment causing smells, mold, and the spread of disease.

Cool story, bro.

Water is a renewable resource, until global warming and man made water transportation redistributes water to areas we can't extract it from we're fine. However we should be more water conscious.

My ideas has always been for water that goes down the sink drain go into the tanks of toilets. That way, when you wash your hands, you provide semi-clean water for the next person's flush.

They actually have those... not sure how many places actually use them now, but it's a great idea that could save a lot of water.

They're popular in europe, and pretty much everywhere that isn't the US. fucking americans.

We have a tank so that we catch the rain water and use it for our toilets and shower. Pretty much the water that we don't drink.

I have a rain barrel for watering plants as well, it's really helpful. I wish people around here cared more. There's so much you can do without sacrificing anything.

Exactly, and it saves money. I mean, why not use the natural resources that we have for free?
