Even though you'll be long dead by then, it still freaks you out that in 5 billion years,the sun will swell into a red giant, or supernova, and no life will be sustained on earth, amirite?

We'll either be

Sagan would be proud of what you just said.

I don't think the Sun is massive enough to supernova. But yeah, it's pretty freakin creepy to think once the sun becomes a red giant, where Earth is now, will become part of the sun

Hahaha, do people still believe this? This whole myth was debunked along with the Mayan Calendar end of the world thing. Word on the street is, the earth will hurdle into the sun, in 2020 and cause a giant ice age within the sun, due to the spread of the polar ice caps within our planets and throw all the planets off course, causing them to drop like flies

@mchalla3 That makes no sense. We would burn up before we got any closer.

Silly human, we would be long frozen by 2020. None of us would survive the next ice age that comes on 2015

@KickAss Marty McFly

I did a little scavenging on the interwebz. It's true. But it's only two years.

I actually changed the date to 2015, because that's when Marty went to hehe smilie

actually, this post isn't about the world ending and the mayan fiasco. That theory is so stupid i don't know how people believe it.
but since the sun is technically a star, that would mean that in approximately 5 billion years it will go into the next stage of a star, not being able to sustain the earth.
