Going off of Earthworm Jim's comment up there (and not really in the context of the post), everyone's life really is argueably locked into their paradigm, or their way of interpreting reality. It doesn't have to be locked in a negative connotation, but everyone has a specific way in which they see the world, which in a sense defines and encompasses, or "locks" their life.
