+266 Its annoying how the news is comparing the Concordia (the ship that sank in Italy) to the Titanic when the Titanic had way more deaths, it was colder, they has less life boats, and it was in the middle of the ocean. While the Concordia had more life boats, way less deaths, and it was a lot closer to the shore. Even though both were completely tragic, they're quite the opposite, amirite?

tbh, I'd say they weren't complete opposite. There's a lot of differences but many more similarities. Ultimately, everyone is familiar with the Titanic story, it's always going to be the point of reference in mainstream journalism because editors strive for the lowest common denominator.

The news media is fucking stupid.

thank you.

No offense, but that Italian boat crash was straight up stupid.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I know. it was not even worth all the publicity its getting.

And now people are going to be scared to go on cruises so the cruise industry will suffer a bit.

I was just so pissed they were making into a huge commercial for the Titanic 3D release.

You could very well do without the second sentence (really, it's a fragment) in this post. It's implied from the first sentence.

I hate trolls.

I'm not trying to be a troll. I'm simply stating that you compared the two tragedies. Twice. Redundant. And I hate people who upvote their own comment.

Media's though process: Titanic-Boat sinks. Concordia-Boat sinks. OMG GUYS. THIS MEANS THEY'RE THE SAME THING.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I wouldn't say opposites, but they are different.
