Well you see its all very simple, that is, if John can pretend that each apple represents 1x10^(30) kilograms). So in total John has 4x10^(30) kg of apple. If Jon eats an apple, and gives one away, he is left with 2 apples, which, in his pretend situations, is equivalent to 2x10^(30) kg. Funny, the mass of the sun is just about 2x10^(30) kg.
