+212 Disney took one of its signature elements from Bollywood. If you start singing/dancing randomly, everyone in the vicinity will know the words/step, amirite?

I'm pretty sure both Disney and Bollywood took it from American musical theatre.

That's basically just every musical ever created.

Yeah, well they are called musicals, so that's understandable. Disney movies are MOVIES, not musicals.

Theyre sometimes referred to as musicals.

But they weren't marketed as musicals. If I'm wrong, don't tell me and ruin my childhood.

How would your childhood be ruined if you're just calling it something different?

I have always hated musicals, because I hate singing when you could talk and achieve the same or almost the same effect. I I find out my favourite childhood movies were actually musicals, I will misspell Chuck Norris's name in front of him. The movies have a relatively small amount of singing in comparison to real dialogue.

Ne being a girl, i only ever watched Princess movies. Kids seem to like it, or so adults think. It entertains them, and since those are meant for kids, that's why its considered a musical. I think. Depends on what movie you're talking about. Also, as a rule of thumb, and movie with more than three songs is a musical in my book.
