Oooh, yeah, 'cause I was trying to see who hit the disagree button, and amirite has changed since I was last on which was about a year ago. So I hit the wrong button. I fixed it, though. Sooo you can calm down, now.
by Anonymous13 years ago
It's still like that. Amirite's being a bitch.

by Anonymous13 years ago
Yeah, under edit profile then privacy
by Anonymous13 years ago
I've made some sh*tty remarks in my life and tried to cover them up before. Thankfully amirite? deleted them.
by Anonymous13 years ago
Well, it depends on the context and people you use it with.
by Anonymous13 years ago
Anything can be funny.
by Anonymous13 years ago
Rape jokes aren't funny unless they are forced on you.
by Anonymous13 years ago
I agree with you. I don't care if this gets voted down, I wanted to let you know I agree. I was sexually abused as a child. I cringe when being touched, and my friends, who know, mock me and will tickle me, once to the point where I vomited in complete fear. I've cried from cruel jokes people have said to me. It's not about not having a sense of humor, it's about being hurt, really and truly hurt. If someone asks to to stop, stop. Knock it off.
by Anonymous13 years ago
It sounds like they're not really your friends if they mock you about being sexually abused and touch you unnecessarily when they know how scared it makes you...
by Anonymous13 years ago
I realize that, but that doesn't take away from the fact that I think people who make fun of rape are cruel. And by the looks of how these votes are going, not many people agree with me, so this is really as nice as my "friends" are going to get, because most people think the same way they do, that it's funny.
by Anonymous13 years ago
Don't settle for that. You can do better than friends like that, and you deserve better. It's kind of scary, but you just have to go out and try and find better people. I promise you, they do exist.
For example: when I told my friends I'd been raped, they gave me a hug and said I could call them any time I needed to. And you know what? I did call them, sometimes in the middle of the night. And you know what else? They answered, and they talked to me until I was ok. And I love them all so much more for it.
by Anonymous13 years ago
Theres a difference between joking and be intentionally cruel. friends who mock and hold you down on purpose aren't joking, they're just being cruel. I was sexually harassed before and I can still make jokes, but my friends know when to draw the line. I can joke but they dont touch me
by Anonymous13 years ago
I won't comment on whether rape jokes in general are okay or not, but I definitely think if someone is being offended, you should stop. And that goes for any joke, not just rape jokes.
by Anonymous13 years ago
A woman jumped into my car
crying and distraught
screaming,
"Please help me, I've just been
raped."
"How unlucky," I said. "Raped
twice in the same night."
"Twice?" she said.
...as I locked all the doors.
by Anonymous13 years ago
My favorite sex position is the JFK: I splatter all over her as she screams and tries to get out of the car.
by Anonymous13 years ago
Anyone who likes rape jokes, please please read this:
http://shakespearessister.blogspot.com/2011/03/feminism-101-helpful-hints-for-dudes.html
If you don't read the whole article (it isn't especially long), just remember the helpful test at the end: when you say jokes like that, who do you think is more comfortable around you - rapists, or rape victims?
by Anonymous13 years ago
That was a stupid article. I can't laugh at something because it gives another person validation? So what if i make a joke about beating your kids are all child abusers going to stand up and go "yea're right! she laughed at our joke, lets go beat our kids again". That article isnt scientifically fact and the author has no way of knowing at all if that's how rapists feel in any way, or if laughing at a joke is now going to make rapists feel like they are doing the right thing. Fuck that.
by Anonymous13 years ago
Did you read it? Firstly, there is a difference. The difference being people actually DO think rape is OK. "If you dress like a slut don't complain when you're treated like one", and how do you treat a person like a slut? Have sex with them. I've seen comments like this on my Facebook, and, if you look in any feminist community you'll see I am not the only one. In rape courts, what women were is still taken into account, as if it matters. "Asking for it" is an expression you've probably heard.
Secondly, are you seriously defending your "it's ok to make rape jokes" by saying "you wouldn't complain if I made domestic violence jokes would you"? Because, yes, I WOULD complain about that.

http://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/2012/01/31/unilad-magazine-forced-to-pull-surprise-rape-article-after-twitter-backlash_n_1244173.html
Have a look at these links from men's magazines. Many of them actively TELL their readers it's OK to rape, and advise them to do it. How do you think a rape victim feels when they read that? Do you think women feel safe around you if you make jokes like this?
by Anonymous13 years ago
I'm saying that making a joke doesnt mean i gave permission to anybody to do anything. And to state that by making jokes you are is ridiculous and stupid. And actually in US courts, rape is not considered a "you deserved it for dressing like a slut", they're not really allowed to ask about their sexual past and care about what they were wearing, this is why prostitutes can still win in rape cases because being a "slut" has nothing to do with rape. Making jokes DOES NOT give permission nor advocate ANYTHING. Which is what i said in my first reply and what you refuse to have seen in your comment. And I'm a woman and I make rape jokes, and so do all my friends, including my male friends. None of them have tried to rape me, nor anyone else I've know even if i was trashed, and they had the perfect "opportunity" to. So to say just because someone makes a silly joke that means they are a rapist and/or advocate is just as disgusting as men and women who think rape is an okay thing to do. A joke = a joke, not rape or violence.
by Anonymous13 years ago
Just because you're a woman doesn't suddenly make it "okay" to tell rape jokes. Joking about ANY sensitive topic is not and never will be funny, whether it be rape, self harm, racism, domestic violence, etc.
Also, not only women get raped, however they are the most common. Men get raped too. And trans*, and people without an identified-gender get raped.
These "jokes" are triggering, and can send people into shock or force them to remember something they don't want to. You don't know everybody's situation, so you can NOT "joke" about sensitive topics like such.
by Anonymous13 years ago
I'm poor, so can no one make a joke about being poor ever? I don't give a shit what you laugh at, tell all the jokes you want as long as they're funny
by Anonymous13 years ago
Those are two ENTIRELY different subjects.
Rape jokes are triggering. And rape damages those who have been raped, mentally and physically.
by Anonymous13 years ago
//But you just said// jokes about ANY sensitive topic are never funny, so who are you to decide where we draw the line?
by Anonymous13 years ago
I never said it was okay to laugh about being "poor", it definitely isn't. What I am saying is that they're two ENTIRELY different subjects, that can't be compared.
by Anonymous13 years ago
What I'm saying is, why not? They are both apparently unacceptable to joke about
by Anonymous13 years ago
Well of course. But Antoine Dodson was hilarious.
by Anonymous13 years ago
Rape jokes are never tasteful or moral, but sometimes they are funny.
by Anonymous13 years ago
Rape and violence is funny when it's done to men.
Just a funny double standard in our society. :P
