+211 You think its ridiculous you can buy candy bars, cookies, and energy drinks(monster, red bull, rock star, ect) with food stamps. amirite?

Poor people want cookies too

I think we know what energy drinks are. We're not stupid.

It's not like they're just getting extra cookies. They are spending what they would use on meat on some cookies. And why not? A good cookie can brighten your day or make your kids stop complaining.

Plus, foods like candy and cookies provide more calories per dollar then most other foods, which means that the family doesn't have to spend as much. Of course it might not be too healthy, but it keeps the family from starving, which the point of food stamps, right?

People on food stamps deserve to have some sweets, too. Can you imagine a Halloween without candy? Or a kid's birthday party without some soda and cake?

I had a lady come in twice a week to buy Starbucks frappuccinos with her food stamps.

"These people need bread and water!" "Cake and energy drinks are close enough right?"

I think it's sad that food stamp won't pay for deoderant. I mean I know it's not a food but I would say it's pretty essential to daily life.

I'm just saying that where I'm from some families are very unhealthy and no where near starving. Don't get me wrong, there are good people who need help and they should get it. I don't agree with making your entire shopping trip and not buying one piece of fruit or a veggie. How I was raise, cookies, candy, and pop were a treat. Not an everyday thing.

Where I am instead of getting a card that makes it cheaper for food, you go to 'missions' as they're called and pick up a food parcel. It has enough food to get you by and then you can go back again to get another when your food runs out.
