I don't know, when you're not single, something about the day just makes it even romantic. Every couple should respect each other everyday but I think it's sweet that there's a day made just for them. Also, Valentines Day must be a great day for stores, restaurants, & etc.
it's difficult to treat someone special every single day - life gets in the way sometimes. it's nice to set aside a day to just really spoil someone. yes, it shouldn't be the only day you do it in a whole year, but making the most out of the oppurtunity works for me :)
That's like saying that birthday's are so fake, you should celebrate someones birth every day. Or Christmas is so fake, you should praise God every day.
There are already anniversaries for couples, why do they need an overly publicised holiday to be celebrated when that day is essentially meaningless to either?
My girlfriend hates Valentine's Day and won't let me take her anywhere. I don't care if she hates the holiday. I'm still gonna do something really nice, but the gift's going to be homemade because fuck commercialism.
My boyfriend is the same but I love it, as long as I get a card I'm happy and I make a donation to a charity in his name because the commercial aspect pisses us both off.
I hate when companies try to play on emotions to make a profit. Besides, it's better when it's something with meaning than just something that costs a lot.
Yep exactally! I love gifts so much more when they're from the heart and you can tell there was effort put into it, so i think it's super sweet you're making your girlfriend something. But I guess it's like Christmas if people want to spend then it's their right. Valentines day does make me extra romantic, and it's not like we don't do anything special for eachother throughout the year, and we show our love for eachother every day, but it's nice that there is a day set aside for that kind of stuff.
I think of valentine's day as a day to show everybody close to you that you love them. It's not strictly for couples (at least in my opinion). And who doesn't like flowers and teddy bears and chocolate?!

somebodys single...
366. It's a leap year.
It's all a conspiracy, man! "Love" is an outdated concept used by industrialists to keep women subservient! THE MAN IS TRYING TO KEEP US DOWN!
Who says they don't.

don't know how to vote because the post is separated into two distinct ideas on which my opinions may contradict.
Valentine's day is so commercial. The big companies just want to make a bunch of money for an extra holiday that doesn't really mean anything.
