The Giver should be made into a movie, amirite?
by Anonymous13 years ago
While reading the Giver in 8th grade I remember rumors of a movie being made.

There most defiantly needs to be a Life of Pi movie too.

I think it would ruin it, a movie can't live up to the books quality

They are making a movie I saw it when I was in imdb.com

Especially with all the effects they could do. The black-and-whiteness and whatnot.

I hated the Giver.

Same. Especially the ending. Oh wait...what ending?

One of the only summer reading books I read that I actually enjoyed. I think it would be perfect for a movie.

I was literally just thinking this yesterday.

That's all you were thinking yesterday? Awful long period of time to spend on one pretty simplistic idea

I didn't really care for it, but I had to listen to the audio version in a classroom full of eighth graders. The person who read it felt a need to give Jonas a little boy voice as he read. It was just weird, and a little creepy. Then of course they had fun with "Stirrings"
I feel like they would change a lot though, and the memory transition thing may be a little weird and silly.
I'd give it a chance, but idk.

You should definitely read it as a book. I hate listening to the audio book version of something because the voice usually sounds kind of creepy. It's such an interesting story that will really make you think. And yeah, the "Stirrings" bit is kind of awkward. :D
It would be pretty tricky to turn this book into a movie, but if they put in a lot of time an effort and it was carefully thought out, it could possibly turn out really well.

Definitely one of my favorite books. I would love to see a movie made.
