+290 Pro-life is not an appropriate term for people who are against abortion unless they are also against war and the death penalty, amirite?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I disagree. People who receive the death penalty tend to be murders and the like. Inb4"Why cant they just get a life sentence?" Would you rather be in jail for fifty years or be put out of your misery?

I'm not saying anything about weather one is cruel or wrong or anything. I'm just saying that the term "Pro-life" shouldn't just apply to certain life.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

yep i'm against all of them y

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I thought they also called themselves "pro-birth.

Pro-life refers specifically to being against abortion, it's got nothing to do with being against the death penalty. There's a big difference between an unborn child and a serial killer.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I know what it refers to, I'm not saying they're the same thing, I'm not saying you should support any of them. I'm just saying the term doesn't fit well.

Pro-life is believing that every life is valuable. That is why we aren't anti-abortionists. We are pro-life meaning that we are for life and all forms of it no matter how young or old.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Either every life is sacred or none of them are.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

i think you have to take it in context. "pro-choice" people don't have to believe that everyone gets to choose whatever they want to do whenever they want, although out of context it would imply that.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I see your point, but I would say that pro-choice implies things that don't harm other humans. I personally think someone should be able to mess up their own life legally if they want. The most we can do is not give them access to horrible stuff. Like I said below, I just get tired of people around me (teenagers who just repeat what their parents say) preaching that it's killing a baby and that all life is sacred, and then saying we should just bomb places. It's stupid.

They should also be against euthanasia or assisted suicide, eh?

As a Christian I don't see why other Christians who are pro-life can also be against the death penalty... it's been taught that we can't pass judgement on someone else when we're equally sinful, so I can only assume that a very hypocritical thing to do would be to put someone to death for essentially sinning, and being on our level. As for war, you can either oppose it or find it an acceptable thing to do as a means of defense. Pro-war isn't really a thing. And if you find war acceptable, that doesn't necessarily mean you're for killing people.

Aight I'll play. Pro choice is not an appropriate term unless the people are for the choice to give someone the death penalty.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Who's choice are you talking about? The prisoners? I personally would be for that because sometimes they convict someone and there isn't enough evidence. My English teacher was a criminal defense Lawyer, and she did not think there was enough evidence for one case. There have been cases of people being found innocent years after their trial (The one I hear d about was for raping a minor) However some may prefer death to life in jail, if they are in fact guilty. Personally, I am pro-choice, anti-war, and have mixed feelings about the death penalty. The point I'm trying to make is that I would say most pro-choice people are pro-choice within the law. Not pro-do whatever you want 'cause it's your choice, you have the right to do something that doesn't directly harm another human being. No one is for rape, so I think that's sort of obvious. I just get annoyed with people preaching about how life is sacred when it's in a womb and then saying we have to be in a war and that we should just kill people. Sorry if that made little sense, I was getting sort of rable-y and don't feel like reading over it.
