+230 President's Day: Where Obama steps outside of his office, and if he sees his shadow, we have one more year of unemployment, amirite?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

*the president* instead of Obama. Obama won't be president forever.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Unless he pulls an FDR and has a 100 day congress then screws us over..

by Anonymous 12 years ago

No, I'm pretty sure they amended the constitution to avoid a president being in office for more than 10 years total.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

With the 100 day congress the president doesn't need congress and can pretty much do away with the constitution..

by Anonymous 12 years ago

what's 100 day congress?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

For 100 days the president can pass laws without congress.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

what?! Is there like a vote that allows the president to do this? This kinda screws over the constitution though...

by Anonymous 12 years ago

They have to ask congress for permission first. But yeah after that the constitution goes to shit..

by Anonymous 12 years ago

yeah, that's giving the president total power, total tyranny It allows him to be a dictator

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Yes, but the key component here is trust. Congress trusts that our president will not fuck us over. And the fact that after 100 days congress can undo any damage.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

ooh, but therotically, can the president overide this "100 days" if he is in charge? or are there limits to it

by Anonymous 12 years ago

No limits.lol The way I understand it, he can amend the constitution if he wishes too.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

So... He can be a dictator Congress won't be able to overise anything if it is put out of power throughout these 100days

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Yeah, but like I said before its all about trust.

#joke

I also think Obama should be omitted in favor of "the president" since he's actually been helping unemployment, and to me jobs is his forte. Plus, there is always going to be unemployment. Sorry to pick apart an otherwise funny joke.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I don't get this. Explain?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

It's making fun of Groundhog's day. If the groundhog sees his shadow, there are 6 more weeks of winter (or something like that). It's U.S. and Canada thing, I think.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Oh, I'd never heard of Groundhog's Day. I guess they don't do it here in Australia.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Which is perfectly fine. I think it's kind of a stupid holiday anyway.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

With all you guys talking about that 100 days, you got no fucking idea what you're talking about, google it. Anyway, if you look at the economy and unemployment trend it descended rapidly, then Bill Clinton shot it up, then by the end of Bush it's like the trend skipped over him. My POINT being that it has gone up slightly since he's been president, unlike any president since like, '76. And because of this stupid filibuster and how republicans didnt pass shit obama sent through. Obama's the best we got, so take all your complaints, shove it, and get with the picture

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Didn't Bush destroy the economy by giving the wealthiest Americans tax breaks and leave Obama to clean up the mess?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Hell yeah, we all know that trickle-down economics doesn't help crap. Rich people who have more money than they know what to do with wont suddenly obtain a heart or conscience enough to benefit society or anyone but themselves for that matter. With those tax breaks coming to an end, that extra 15-20% they pay now will definitely help the economy. In case you guys didn't know, people like MittR Romney don't do shit at all besides politics, because he has so much invested in stock that he doesn't need a job. Stock is taxed 20-25% less than the 40% people like Romney ought to be paying
