+164 According to Forbes, the average American pays $188,520 in a lifetime in taxes. So if you multiply that number by the amount of people living in America (311,591,917), we give uncle Sam approximately $58,741,308,192,840 over the course of these 311,591,917 people's lifetime. Yes, that is 58 TRILLION. Where does all that money go, amirite?

Over a lifetime? That means we're taxed less than $1 trillion a year. Our yearly budgets are something like $15 trillion. So the amount Americans are taxed per year gets very quickly consumed.

We wish it was 15 trillion. It's more like 2 to 3 trillion, but we always spend more than that.

58 Trillion over ALL those people's lifetimes makes sense considering we are one of the (if not the) most powerful nation int the world...

Over a lifetime, the inflation and cost of living would have risen. $58 trillion in 100 years will not be worth $58 trillion now.

Yes but if the cost of living rises, so does the pay, so does the increase in taxable income.
