+223 There is something which you find to be soothing that you think a lot of people would think was strange, or wouldn't understand. amirite?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

well, I dunno if other people do this. But I like scribbling on whiteboards with an Expo marker and then slowly wiping it completely, perfectly clean.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

That's a good one! I was hoping to start a discussion with this post and get to know everyone's little quirks, so thank you. :)

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Haha... I like to draw circles on whiteboards and color them in; then once they're dry, I like to peel it off.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I feel like this is related. http://amirite.net/253958

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Cool answer, and you paired it with shameless self promotion! Like a boss.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

It's hardly self-promotion if it's already on the homepage.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Downvoted eh? Well you caught me. Instead of legitimately linking a post that was related to this one I was sneakily trying to snag three or four "Yes You Ares" And I would have gotten away with it too if people weren't uptight idiots.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Hey man, just take the compliment and don't be a buzzkill :P I was being silly, I knew it was relevant.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I wasn't meaning that as a reply to you, just the people who disagreed with the "it's hardly self-promotion" comment :P

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I know, I know, I meant the "hardly self promotion" comment was the buzzkill. The second one was just funny.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I love the sound of white noise. I often will sleep with my fan on, just because I find it soothing.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

That's a pretty common one, a lot of people like falling asleep to white noise.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

There's 3 things and my friends and family make fun of me for them all the time- I just don't quite know how to explain it without sounding stupid.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Aw, pretty please? I'll tell you some of mine :)

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I just don't know how to describe it! Here goes a long-ass explanation! 1- I put my thumb of one hand into the "thumb pit" of the other hand and squish it. Then go back and forth so it ends up looking like I'm just spinning my thumbs around each other. 2- I like to run all the finger tips on one hand across the webbing part of my fingers on the other hand 3- I really don't know how to say this one.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

You're so close!

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Hey, where'd it go :(

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Where did what go?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Number 3, I got a notification but didn't get to read it

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I don't know if this is relevant, but if I'm really mad at someone I talk to them in English. I guess the eloquent smooth words calm me down compared to Afrikaans's short and rugged sounds.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

That is definitely relevant, it's funny to think how a more consonant heavy or guttural language might affect your mood negatively.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I secretly watch My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic to take my mind off my troubles. It works well. Most hate people who do that, some don't care.

Hold your head up high, Brony.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

OCD...... so Hand Sanitizer after I see dirt on t.v., snapping when numbers form patterns (I have to hide the display on my DVD player or I miss the movie, eating in order (haven't been out of it since 1996), I like to hold a pillow when I sit in my living room, I've fallen asleep to The Office for the past three years. That's a few.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

What's the order?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I have to fall asleep to low music every night. I don't think there's been a night without it in other a year.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Any particular type of music?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Not really, pretty much anything.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I have to listen to music, watch TV, or have some sort of noise in the background while I do my homework. If it is silent, I get nothing done.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I love to peel other people's and my own sunburns. I also find watching crime shows calming. I fall asleep watching them on my laptop every single night. I'm pretty sure I have been doing that one for at least 3 years.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Sunburn peeling is another one I've heard a lot. I like peeling those protective plastic things off of new phones, etc.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I love peeling off those plastic things too...also peeling giant adhesive labels off of their backing or vice-versa.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Yes! Whenever I'd use glue when I was little I would let it dry on my fingers and then peel it off.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

oh yeah that was another thing! I would wear glue all over the desk in my room and then let it dry and then peel it off. It's just so satisfying!

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Ooh, I actually used to do that with candle wax a lot. On random surfaces and on my fingers/hands.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

*smear fail

by Anonymous 12 years ago

When I was a baby I found the sound of the vacuum cleaner soothing... It put me to sleep every time. haha

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Does it still have a similar effect on you?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Nah. I wish though, it would make those nights where I can't fall asleep a lot easier. ha

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Also, I do this thing with my ears I don't really know how to describe. I've seriously been doing it for as long as I remember though. Like, way back since I was four. I sort of fiddle with my earlobe, pushing my thumb behind it and then in front again and behind again... my earlobe is just so soft and silky. I don't know. >.>

by Anonymous 12 years ago

That's another good one :D I have a little cousin that loves giving people "earlobe massages," just because she likes feeling the texture on her fingertips. Pretty much win-win for all parties involved.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Standing in the middle of an empty road, looking down it

by Anonymous 12 years ago

That's a great one, especially right after sunset, for me anyway.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I'm able to move my scalp forwards and backwards, and I find it helps soothe headaches.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

It definitely does! I love scalp massages when I have a headache.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I always sleep the best when there's city traffic outside my bedroom window. Since I live in the country though, there almost never is. I don't really know where that came from, since I don't really sleep like that very often. When I don't have traffic, I always listen to music and fall asleep that way.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Maybe it's a white noise thing? You might be able to find an mp3/tape/YouTube video of traffic sounds to fall asleep to.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Everyone in my family thinks I'm weird but when I'm bored I find myself chewing on napkins, that little plastic ring around water bottles, plastic bottle caps, and straws. I chew on them If im stressed out or just bored. >_<

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I do that with the plastic rings too! I have no idea what posesses me to take them off and put them in my mouth.
