I don't believe in an intelligent god to begin with, but I could argue that, since an intelligent god would be all-knowing, maybe He didn't wanted to spoil us and planned that we would build houses and hammers in order to still give us warmth and hammering but also to teach us humility at the same time. Or a classic argument is that He planned it that way but decided to keep His motives secret from us.
