+136 Meeting people online isn't more dangerous then meeting people in real life. Any person you walk up into on the street or at school could be a serial killer or rapist, and they could conceal it just as good as an online person. Meeting a new friend is always a risk, but just because there's a risk doesn't mean it's not worth it, amirite?

Initially, this seems pretty accurate. If you really think about it, though...when you get to know someone on the internet, everything they say could be a lie. Their age, gender, etc. In real life, it's a bit more difficult for a 53 year old man to convince someone that they're, say, a 16 year old girl. Not one of those "DON'T TALK TO STRANGERS THEY'LL FIND YOU AND RAPE YOU AND KILL YOU" people or anything.
