Y is what you're finding. You know x. X is the age, so say someone is 18. half of that is 9, plus 7 is 16. Therefore, the youngest person an 18 year old can date without it being creepy is 16. I say when x ≥ 14 because, for example, if the person is 12 years old, half of that is 6, plus 7 is 13, which is older than they are, which makes no sense.
