Tacos can't be hard? Whaaattt?? In my house we make taquitos de pollo and we usually fry them making the shells hard, the only time I eat soft shelled tacos is when I go out to eat at a taqueria or Mexican restaurant.

Taquitos literally means "little tacos", it's the same thing. They're still tacos fried or not. A taco; a tortilla filled with any meat/ food of choice and wrapped. Why is this even an argument? Go to any part of Mexico and you'll see how tacos are different in every region.

This is a very valid argument. There are such things as little tacos. They are made with little tortillas. I've had them many times and they're delicious. Taquitos, on the other hand are completely different. That's why there is a distinction by name. By your definition of a taco, enchiladas and flautas are also tacos. I have been to Mexico, and I know what i'm talking about. Don't try to belittle my argument by suggesting otherwise.
