by Anonymous14 years ago
I'm from America and I'm pretty sure I'm Polish.

A lot of Americans are Irish because of immigration during the potato famine.

ya, but only 10 million emmigrated there and ive met soooo many americans who are like "omg your irish! so am i! my great great grandmother was irish!" hence shes like an eigth irish

So naturally the sampling you've seen represents most of the country... I don't think so.

Plus if they actually have Irish lineage I think that gives them the right to say they're however much Irish.

10 million, you sure. thought there were only eight million irish people at that time. correct me if im wrong, especially cuz im irish

I've never met a person who thinks that... except my wood shop teacher...I'm pretty sure he's a leprechaun in disguise though.

Well I'm 50% Irish 50% French...and the Irish side of my family are the only "pure" Irish I know...but I do get a lot of people telling me they are part Irish and I don't see why they would lie...maybe they want an excuse to go all out on the 17th and wear a claddagh ring? :)

alot of people dont even understand the signifigance of all of the symbols on a claddagh. The hands represent togetherness, the heart means love, the crown is loyalty, and the circle shape of the ring means eternity. If you wear the ring on the left hand with the heart pointed away from you, it means u are engaged/maried. look up more if you care to know more.

My dad is irish and scotish. My mom is german and cherokee. People around here...It seems like everyone is cherokee. Besides. Just because ur an eighth irish doesnt mean ur not irish.

I'm half Irish, half German. Well, I'm a bit more Irish than German, so I usually just say Irish.
