+177 More often than not, United States soldiers are not fighting for our freedom, but for the freedom of others, amirite?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

And freedom is what we tell them it is.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Who are you referring to? Because I'm thinking of both world wars, Vietnam, and Korea. In those cases, we really were fighting for the freedom of others.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Vietnam and Korea both had more to do with Russia and economic self-interest than either of those countries.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Basically everything that happened after Hitler can be chalked up to our misplaced paranoia concerning Russia..

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Speaking of Russia and Cold War paranoia, fun fact: they came dangerously close to nuking us in 1983 after a misunderstanding.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Wow.lol We just should have never made nukes..

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Scary thing is how many times has this happened and we weren't privy to it. :P

by Anonymous 12 years ago

oh yeah...even though they're supposed to tell us everything the government doesn't tell us diddly squat..CIA is built on secrecy from congress even..that's crazy.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Did you hear that in a documentary?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Yes. Is it incorrect?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

No. I just watched the same documentary as you. I thought that was cool!

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Apparently there are a couple different versions, my friend and I were trying to find the one we saw. What was it called?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I don't remember. I will find out and tell you later today.

We went there primarily because South Korea and South Vietnam didn't want to be ruled by communism and we don't like communism. In going there (at least Korea) we kept them free of communism, which did benefit us, but it also benefited them.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

No, they are fighting for natural resources and other economic interests. Yay USA.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

just like in vietnam?
