+163 If you get pulled over for speeding in the fast lane on the highway, a cop isn't going to be like "Oh! You were in the fast lane? Haha, nevermind that the speed limit is 60! Please, keep going 75!" Amirite?

I don't understand the point of this.

Point is, just because you're driving in the fast lane, doesn't mean you're entitled to special treatment, so you don't get to go faster than the speed limit.

Oh alright makes sense now!

Technically its not the "fast lane" its the passing lane, but good point. also going the flow of traffic means nothing to a cop

True, but you're less likely to be pulled over for speeding in the fast lane than you are for speeding in a slower lane.

Not really. In those "authorized vehicle only" things on the side of the road where the police like to hide with their radar guns, they're more likely to catch you speeding in the lane closest to them versus someone in the middle or right lane speeding.

I guess that depends on which side of the road they're on, then. Oddly enough, I mainly see police cars waiting on the right side of the road.

I have some friends that think like this and call it the fast lane. I just want to tell them that it is a passing lane.
