+412 Newton's third law of emotion: For every male action, there is a female over reaction, amirite?

by Anonymous 12 years ago

Or maybe the guy doesn't understand the girl's perspective and she has a legitimate reason to be acting the way she is. Or maybe the guy is an arrogant sod who has to justify his actions because he'd rather blame someone else than admit he was wrong. Or maybe everyone is an ass in this scenario and they deserve each other.

Ah ladies and gentlemen, this would be exhibit A.

Just throwing out some hypotheticals. :)

Aha yeah I know :) I just somehow knew someone would say something like this. Apparently I'm a mysogynistoc bully, and I'm trying to devalue your beliefs with some type of "silencing technique" :/ that wasn't my intent when I replied to your comment.

And this would be the perfect example of what is known as a "silencing technique". Stop trying to devalue what women have to say. That's called "misogyny". You know how in schools, bullies will torment a kid for ages and when the kid finally retaliates, THEY get blamed and punished? Yeah. That's what you're doing.

... exhibit B. There should be an eyeroll emocticon. I think you've been waiting to attack someone with that comment. I don't see how you came up with this conclusion of me but it isn't true.

I'm sorry if you believe calling out sexist behaviour is "attacking" you - if the response seems rehearsed, that's because I have used it before to explain this to other people who say similar things to you. I came up with the conclusion that you're misogynistic by watching you express misogynistic views, such as perpetuating the stereotype that all women are irrational and all men are helpless victims to their irrationality, and by trying to silence any supposed-women who speak out against you. Do you really not see a problem with either of those things...? They're the same arguments used throughout history to silence social minorities such as black people, women, etc, to make their opinions seem ridiculous. For example, "women don't WANT the vote", "women are hysterical and would ruin the country if they voted", "men are being victimised by women because horrible women want to undermine their authority", and so on. It's a problem because it means equal rights groups have a hard time being listened to because people have internalised the idea that all their arguments are ridiculous without even hearing any.

How am I trying to silence her? Look I only agreed with the post because I thought it was a funny stereotype. I'm not a sexist male with misogynistic behavior. I'm not even a male. My comment was meant to be taken lightly sorry if you're offended but you should be directing all your anger towered the person who posted this.

by Anonymous 12 years ago

I... didn't say you were male? Also, yes, I know you didn't post this. But you are agreeing with what it says, AND saying other misogynistic things in your attempts to defend it. Also, I'm going to drop this now unless anyone wants to add anything, but I stand by what I said before.

But I'm no.. Ok whatever *sigh :(
