+252 One of the reasons that JK Rowling is a better author than Stephanie Meyer is because JK Rowling isn't afraid to kill her characters unlike Stephanie Meyer who makes sure that none of the "good" characters die, amirite?

Eh, they're both overhyped.

I thought that Stephanie Meyer made Bella seem like a Mary Sue. Bella was just too loved by everyone. In the movies (haven't read the books), it seems like Bella's kind of a bitch to everyone but everyone's still crazy about her. It seems like the only person Bella cares about is Edward. Forgive me if it's different in the books. In the Harry Potter books, all the characters seem real and three dimensional. Harry wasn't perfect, nor was Ron, Hermione, or anybody else.

Believe me, it's the exact same in the books.

Maybe that guy was trying to hit her with the car because he knew how the story would go and he wanted to end it before it went to far.

You're right, the character development in Harry Potter truly is remarkable.

I do think JK Rowling is the better author, but this reason doesn't really make sense. If you write a book where a lot of characters die, is it automatically better than one where no one dies?

She should have made some main characters die in Twilight though. It only makes sense, because there was a fight scene in one of the books where it was like 50 other vampires against 10 and none of the 10 main characters died.

That's why I NW'd. Though I agree, how many characters are killed does not determine a book's worth.

Meyer is a worse author not because she didn't kill any characters, but because she wasn't able to/just didn't want to. She became too "attached". A good author does what's right for the story, regardless of their own feelings.

ENOUGH WITH THESE COMPARISONS ALREADY. un

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Honestly. The only similarity between Harry Potter and Twilight is that they're both young adult fantasy books. It's also intriguing when they try to put the Hunger Games in there with HP and Twilight.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Exactly. Each one is a good series in its own right. And if people don't agree, fine. But comparing different authors and their books is like comparing different music artists and their songs. It's just personal preference.

The only character that it actually took any balls for her to kill was Sirius. And I agree with Arwen.

Dumbledore!?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

How about a spoiler alert next time! Haha, sorry, forgot about him.

You forgot about Dumbledore? JESUS CRUNCHY CHRIST, MAN.
