+164 Seniority is defined as an excuse that someone uses to butt you in the lunch-line if they're a year older than you, amirite?

As it always has been and always will be. We had to be freshman once too. We were treated like crap by seniors and that was their prerogative. In four years we're seniors now and we get to treat the freshman like crap. It'll be your turn to cut in line someday, it's how the system has always worked don't complain about it lol

Its a right of passage that teaches you that you don't get handed respect. You have to give time and effort to get it! Its how every job you will ever have works.

Exactly! To be fair most of them figure that out by then end, though.

I thought I'd be done with seniority after high school, but now working with the railroad I found out that almost everything is determined by seniority here.

well it only makes sense that the guy who has been there longer and as such has put in more work should get more perks.

But working somewhere for a longer time doesn't necessarily make that person more qualified. I had a great foreman who was replaced by an idiot just because of seniority.

I hate when underclassmen try to break down the hierarchy. I got into a fight with a sophomore the other day because he was trying to cut in front of me. He told me to go fuck myself, and I told him to go fuck //himself//. He doesn't try to cut in front of me anymore. I know just how cool my story is, so no need to tell me cool.
