+260 it's really irritating to hear people say "YOLO" simply to justify their constant partying, drinking, and drug use. That is not what YOLO is about. It's about actually doing something meaningful with your life, something that people will remember. Going out and partying and constantly getting wasted is frankly a waste of a perfectly good life. There is so much more you can do with your life, but the drugs blind you to anything other than the next high, amirite?

I'm getting annoyed with these posts bashing drugs and drug users. There are very few people that do nothing except get high, it's not an exclusive activity. And who are you to say that doing drugs is a waste of life? What if you really enjoy horseback riding or racing cars and I say that you're wasting your life? That's your opinion, don't state it like it's an absolute truth. Drugs aren't always bad. I know numerous people that use drugs, including some of my closest friends (and family) and they're great people that contribute to society and/or get good grades. Of course, there are also people that use drugs and are worthless assholes, but there are worthless assholes in every group. Drugs are not used by only bad people and they do not always or only have negative effects.

i did not mean it to be directed towards all drug users. it was simply towards those who, as you said, are worthless assholes. not everyone. True, not everyone is like that, but there are those who all simply do nothing but waste there time getting high. I, too know people that are mostly productive members of society as well as drug users, but i am annoyed by the people that always talk about how drugs are simply the best thing in life and try to justify all their partying simply by saying "YOLO". Like, there was a post on here yesterday that said teens who don't do drugs are uncool. Things like that aggravate me and that's what this post was about. It is not directed toward everyone that does drugs.

Fantastic :) Sorry I kinda flipped out. But yeah, I saw that post, too. I thought it was sarcastic.

I'm writing a book with the hopes of it getting published. Because, YOLO.

This girl I know got two tattoos from some shady place on Friday the 13th because they were having a $13 per tattoo sale. When asked why the hell she would think it's a good idea, her response was "YOLO!" We were all like ".....fuck you."

THANK YOU for this post! All of the whores/stoners at my school way overuse "yolo." It's just so annoying to hear it repeated because it's become a sort of fad. It would be completely different if someone was like "helped out a homeless shelter by serving Thanksgiving dinner to them, YOLO."

I think it's a bit weird that you've got some philosophical type feelings over something as dumb as YOLO.

It's interesting that having a meaningful life is equated to doing something that people will remember. I mean sure, most famous people are famous because they did something meaningful and therefore we remember them, but billions of people died beforehand. Since we don't remember them, does that make their lives less meaningful? I don't know, interesting idea. The book The Fault in our Stars made me think of this.

is it just me or did the sentence "that's not what YOLO is about" make anyone else giggle for no reason?
