+141 Wars will never be replaced with a friendly game of chess. War is a way of saying "i believe in what i believe so strongly that you can do the worst thing possible to me, and I will not surrender". amirite?

Who wanted to replace the war with chess?

Well yah, cause Chess makes no sense. They should play Risk.

Hmm, OP makes war sound noble.

Wouldn't it be nice if that's what it meant? Unfortunately the people who make the decision to go to war are not the people who wind up fighting it 99% of the time, and if they were faced with the same decision to put their own life on the line, I bet many of those leaders would change their mind. Also, I'd wager that many (if not most) wars have little to do with a moral ground and much more to do with resources/money/power.

My dad used to say: "The perfect solution to end war is have a person from each country arm wrestle. But then the loser will still go drop a bomb in the other country".
