+238 You know when the word "so" is used but if someone asked you to give an exact definition you'd sit there like "uhh...." amirite?

Well, my response would be it's either used like "very", used as part of a result clause (ex. the meal was **so** good **that** I foodgasmed), to mean "as a result of this", or to start a reply (ex. so you don't want to go to the party with me, I take it?), although sometimes the thing that was replied to may not have been something said but just an action or a moment, in reply to an awkward silence, for example. Or it can mean as previously stated (ex. like so; say it ain't so!), or it can mean to a certain extent (you can only eat so many cookies). Man, there are a lot of meanings of so. I doubt I got them all.

It's also a transition similar to 'therefore' (ex. I ran out of bread so I went to the store)

I have this problem with most words. No biggie.
