-113 It would be pretty cool if we could build a turning ring around the equator and fix a very powerful thruster to it, then spin it so that the thruster always faces the sun. When it is activated, the planet will slowly move away from the sun, get cooler, and slow global warming so we are guaranteed survival until we invent a viable, sustainable clean energy source, amirite?

Fun fact: while global warming is a serious issue, we are actually 8-14 degrees cooler than we have ever been since the last ice age.

The average global temperature has only risen .05° in the last hundred years...I don't think it's that serious of an issue that we should do anything like that

I thought it was 2.5 degrees. Which yeah, may not sound like a great deal but the earth manages to lose the heat gained during the day at night and summer gains during winter so that it averages out , it's not like a 2.5 C or a 0.5 C hotter day, it's the whole balance upset.

Solar power is actually a great source of renewable energy.

Yeah, The Singapore government talked about intalling solar cells on the roofs of all the buildings, but we couldn't afford the initial cost.

The rockets would have to be the size of countries, and would use so much fuel, it would quite possible defeat the purpose. Not only would it likely create more global warming than it prevents, we could even run out of fuel if we're talking about something of that scale. It would also make the area it is in melt in heat.

Ion thruster. It would take a while, but it would use very little energy and release very little heat.

Are you sure you wanted to use global warming there? Maybe air pollution or something but not global warming.
