+132 The idea of sleep is strange. We put our bodies into a mode of mere unconsciousness where our senses are put on hold, tuning out the world, until something extreme alerts us (ie. alarm clock) back to reality or we bring ourselves out... strange. Amirite?

I think it's perfectly natural and not strange at all. Many animals, not just humans, can be observed sleeping. Even plants follow a circadian rhythm. If your cellphone needs charging after a long day, why shouldn't your body?

Like _Jojo_ said above, it's not strange at all. I've made the argument that sleep is essential because we as human beings tire after a long day, and people just look at me like I'm a Raxacoricofallapatorian.
