+173 Girls have the advantage when playing contact sports with guys, even if they treat themselves equally. Guys will always be unwilling to hit a girl or give their all, and are always scared of them shouting "Molest!" if a guy tackles them and prevents them from scoring or something, amirite?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I'm not scared of them screaming molest, I'm scared of hurting them

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Yeah. 'unwilling to hit a girl or give their all'. i covered that.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Yeah it didn't register in my head when I read it

by Anonymous 11 years ago

why be scared of hitting a girl if you're not scared of hitting a guy? besides, if she's on your skill level, don't flatter yourself guys, you're not going to end up killing her. if you did give her a concussion or something its not the end of the world. it was her decision to risk that in the first place.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

It's not that we think you inferior, or below our skill level, but it just doesn't feel right to do that, unless she's like in the Olympics or otherwise clearly better. It's a pseudo-sexist moral thing, not based of anything real anymore.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I wasn't accusing you of being sexist, I was just wondering about how legitimate this moral is. I'm not a sports player, so if you put me in a contact sports game, I'd probably get hurt. But if a girl has been training and working out just as hard as you did, she's not going to be weak, and she's probably not all that fragile. I think we can ditch some old-time ideals, because personally I wouldn't hold it against someone for giving me a concussion playing sports just because they were male.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Yes, yes you should lay a finger on them when it comes to sports, because one finger on them won't destroy them. In general, sure, I'll admit that, but individually, not always. If you've ever encountered a female athlete you'll know they're not going to snap in half with a tackle. I'll treat someone who hits me exactly the same way if they're male or female, just like there are some males weaker than me and some females stronger than me. The variety between individuals is so great that I don't find it practical to generalize.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

It's not. We're talking about amateur games because men and women don't play together in professional events. With nothing to measure strength/durability, men are automatically assumed to be better unless there are reputations to support the opposite. This results in guys holding back. Another problem is that there's no glory in beating a girl, but it's shameful to lose, and if it looks like you gave your all and won, you look ruthless.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Well, if the male is giving his all and the female isn't, then it looks pretty ridiculous. But if they're both going full force, I don't see why he shouldn't give his all. In a competitive game, be competitive. I'm sure the female doesn't want him going easy on her either, that's pretty insulting. If she's willing to play the game and go full force, she wants the whole challenge. The only thing holding him back is society's morals, but I think those need to change anyway.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Exactly. I hate how society says guys should 'give chance' (That's Singapore slang) to girls because it's harder for them to become just as strong. Even though I don't agree, I still do it because I look like a dick if I don't.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I can't stand when guys do that. All my friends who are guys know that I want them to play just as rough with me as if I were a guy. Plus, girl's sports can get nasty too, and we're not all weak little bitches.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Sad but true.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

"Molest"? I've never heard that one before. "Rape" maybe...

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I think thats more of a society thing though. You know, how those old corny horror movies were once considered terrifying but now they're viewed as almost humorous? That's cause society's had worse now. If co-ed sports became more of a thing, and people didn't see it as "horrifying" for a lady to get the snot kicked outta her in a sport, it wouldn't be a problem.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Nah, fuck that. I'd tackle or hit a girl just as hard as I would a guy - no special treatment.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Oh my gosh you are so tough... SOOO tough. I wish I could be as tough as you. Man. Wow.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Nah, he's progressive, and I like the way he thinks. Hit me and I'll hit you back, I don't care if you're male or not.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I'd do that too, except the entire feminist community would attack me for hitting a girl. "She can't hit you with X amount of force, so you shouldn't be able to hit her with 0.5 X amount of force!"

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I'd consider my way of thinking feminist. Part of my feminist ideals, I suppose, is that men and women are equal. I think there's nothing wrong with hitting either gender because all women aren't weak twigs, and it's annoying how a lot of people still think like that. Oh, don't hit a girl! Their dainty flower petals will fall off! That's true for some girls, but come on, that's so old fashioned. Treat everyone equally, for all things.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I think the way we should go about it is increase the rights and privileges of women first, then do trade-offs to maintain total equality. Like we don't take away all the things women can do but men can't, then try to give them the stuff that men have had all along.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

This isn't something "men have had all along", it's just changing society so that it's less discriminatory. I'm not going to break in a million pieces just because of my gender, and I don't need people treating me like that. Of course I'd rather not get hit by anyone, but I don't see why it's such a big deal to accept the fact that yes, you can hit a girl.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Okay, I'll give you that, basically guys shouldn't hit girls in everyday life. But if she's purposely provoking a fight or participating in contact sports, she's aware of the consequences, and thinks she's a good match, so why not go for it?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

You have to understand that any young man that would hit a girl isn't doing so because he thinks "so what if she's a girl, girls are just as strong as guys so it's no big deal- equality all the way!" He's doing it because he thinks "this bitch doesn't know who she's fucking with, I'll teach her open her mouth around me..." I'm not saying this is true for ALL guys, but I think you're giving young men who would hit a girl too much credit. They're doing it because they're an asshole, not because they view women as their equal. (I'm not saying that women and men aren't equal, I'm just explaining what these violent boys are most likely thinking). So if you see a guy take a swing at a girl, I think it's ridiculous to think "good for him, he treats women with total equality what a hero!" when those clearly aren't his motives.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

When did she say that. She is clearly speaking about sports and self defense.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

She said that she thinks it's progressive when a young man hits a young lady. I was just trying to make her look at it from the guy's prospective- that he isn't hitting a girl because he's making a statement about equality, but rather because he's just an abusive asshole (in most cases).
