+87 Books don't have a glare when you read them in the sun, they feel better, they even smell better, but e books don't use trees, which is better for the environment. Maybe it wouldn't be so bad if everyone made a permanent change, amirite?

A lot of e-readers have screens that don't glare in the sun.

They smell better?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Yeah. I really like the smell of books, especially old ones.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Oh haha you just like the way it smells. I was like, what kind of books is she reading? 0_o Personally, I hate when books have smells.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I like how books taste, especially the old ones.

At the same time, eBooks can damage your vision and run out of battery when you're not close to a charger.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

True.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

How do they damage your vision? The Kindle, at least, has a texture that looks just like that of a book.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

You're looking carefully into a flashlight for hours.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

personThingy: Maybe on the iPad, but again, the Kindle doesn't have its own light. It doesn't damage your eyes any more than a book would.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

So you can't read the Kindle in the dark?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Well you would need a booklight for the kindle because of the way the screen is.

Ebooks also use electricity which uses fossil fuels which "pollute" the atmosphere. So, pick your poison.

Cutting down trees for paper doesn't hurt the environment.. It isn't like we are cutting down random forests for paper. Companies grow trees especially to be cut down for paper.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

It is true that e-readers have a larger carbon foot print than regular paper books.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

First off, ebooks will use electricity which may or may not be clean. The main advantage is the space. The largest library I the world could store all it's books in just a few cubic meters of holographic storage, taking any pictures into account. We're not e en talking about perfect holographic storage here, the there's potential to make it even smaller.

Or... we can stop reading in general. troll

by Anonymous 11 years ago

What would happen to the library?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

It would become an adult film store.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I'm joking.
