Why couldn't everyone from the districts in the Hunger Games just not have kids for about 10 years at the same time? For a few years, there wouldn't be a Hunger Game, so parents don't have to watch their children get murdered, amirite?

The voters have decided that zoegoesrawr is right! Vote on the post to say if you agree or disagree.

The biggest problem I see is that the districts don't have any communication with each other so even if someone had this idea there would be no way to spread the world. Also, the families in poverty might need kids to be able to support themselves (both by the kids working and by receiving the tesserae) just like countries in poverty today have much higher birthrates.

That would be a really dull book. "Once apon a time, nothing happened"

I bet the Capitol would probably change the age range or punish people who weren't having children because they wanted to try to stop the Hunger Games.

Yeah, but the first few districts actually want the kids to go to the competitions - they're trained to do so.

Didn't the Capitol force them to mate?

Or is that District 13?
Or is that a really good fanfic that's merged with the original series in my head?

The Capitol didn't force them to mate and District 13 population fell because there was some disease and they couldn't have children.. I think.

The Capitol would no doubt find some other way to torture them.
