+52 Current music about sex doesn't reflect the way society is heading. Not everyone listens to that music and people have been singing about sex for ages. Famous people are notorious for being dipshits and the small number of people in the world recording music, especially not the even smaller number singing about sex, can't be a reflection of the way society is. No one does the things they talk about in those songs either, like grabbing somebody sexy and telling them hey, amirite?

I generally skip the hey and just ask them to give me everything tonight. But that's just me.

It's always been around but sometimes it //feels// like they're more blatant now: Prince, "Little Red Corvette" (1983): "I guess I must be dumb / you had a pocket full of horses / Trojans, some of them used ... 'cause I felt a little ill / when I saw all the pictures / of the jockeys that were there before me" Fairly obvious what's going on... Then you look at The Rolling Stones and the song "Brown Sugar" (1971): "Ah brown sugar how come you taste so good / (a-ha) brown sugar, just like a young girl should" You take a gander at the rest of the lyrics and it's obvious what he's suggesting... But then you have Saving Abel's "Addicted" (2006): "I'm so addicted to / All the things you do / when you're going down on me / in between the sheets/ all the sounds you make / and every breath you take / it's unlike anything / when you're loving me" . But that all that doesn't seem bad compared to Enrique Iglesias' song "Tonight (I'm Fucking You). I mean there's no euphemism! Rather lengthy (pointless?) thought, but I hate when people say they miss "good, clean/wholesome music" from the past. I guess I said all that to show I agree and then some.

There's a song from the 20s about a woman talking about the circumference of her nipples and how badly she wants them to be licked. I don't know if there's more music today that makes it more blatant than metaphorical, but I don't really think it matters either so I haven't really looked into it much.

Whoa are you serious? Just goes to show it's always been around. Either way, like you said, just because it's out there doesn't mean it's indicative of the direction society is heading. Politicians have always had scandals but it wasn't as publicized as often as it is in recent times. We haven't changed much as humans but it seems that everything gets scandalized because in the past you just didn't talk about those things.
