+160 If gay marriage is legalised across America, Sesame Street will probably celebrate by marrying Bert and Ernie, amirite?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Seseme Stree actually made a statement saying that they would never do that.

I think that's only because of the controversy

I always thought they were brothers...

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Same! I always thought they were brothers, no other explanation needed. Isn't that the simplest?

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Weren't they brothers? That's not just gay, it would also be incest. I doubt they would go there.

They're brothers? I never thought of that...

I feel like, as simple as it really is, it would be sort of hard for some parents to explain homosexuality to a kid the age of Sesame Street's target audience.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

Some dudes like dudes, some chicks like chicks. Not that difficult.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

I know, and I think of it in simple terms like that as well. However, I feel like some parents, mostly the narrow-minded ones, just wouldn't want their kids to know that.

Then don't let them watch the show. Seriously, it's not that difficult. You can even block the show on your TV now.

And that is why homophobes will still exist in the next generation.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

That wasn't my point; all I was saying is that some parents would be too stupid to handle it properly should it actually happen.

by Anonymous 13 years ago

What we need to do is educate parents on how to deal with these things in addition to educating children on the concepts. Once we do that, homophobia will be minimized and it will become as simple as "sometimes boys like boys. Now drink your juice."

That's such a good idea! that's really how it should be.
