It's cool how whenever you get to an exciting or fast paced part in a book your reading speed automatically quickens to match it and when you get to a slow part with a lot of discription you read slower to sort of soak everything in, amirite?

My heart starts beating fast when I get to an epic scene in a game

aw man! I read the opposite way... dangit!

When I get to a part with a lot of what I deem to be an unimportant description (such as a long description of a setting), I'll just skim it.

I do too, but it depends on what its describing. If w'ere describing a table i skip. If it's like how someone looks or someone dying or something then i'll read on.

Yeah, as I said, just unimportant stuff. If they're describing a new character that'll be important later on, it's definitely important to actually read and understand it. If the author's going to have some 2-page description of some castle that the characters will stay in for another 10 pages, I get bored and skip to the part that actually has meaning.

Then sometimes the scene is way too intense and I'm reading too fast to comprehend any of it so I have to go back and slow down.
