Agnosticism makes the most sense as a religious view, amirite?
by Anonymous11 years ago
It makes the most sense to me, I guess.
by Anonymous11 years ago
Wait, did you just disagree with the post, but then re-state it again from your own point of view?
by Anonymous11 years ago
It makes the most sense to me is not the same as it making the most sense.

But that's like voting down on a post that says "Orange is the best colour" and justifying your vote by saying "Yes, it's the best //to me//. It's //my// favourite. But not to everyone."
Don't amirites just always ask opinions of the audience? Of you, the specific reader?

I personally don't think you can say a religious choice makes more or less sense than any other.
by Anonymous11 years ago
But.. you just said it makes more sense to you.

I'm not explaining this very well, but I don't agree that this post conveyed it on a personal level. To me voting up would imply everybody should be an agnostic.

That's not really what I meant either. I know that's the way it came across, though. What I was really meaning is that from a logical perspective it makes the most sense. I admire people who have faith. I would love to have a belief in a higher power, but my logical side (which dominates) picks it apart. Atheism, however, relies on faith too, at least in my view. I personally am an agnostic atheist. I don't think we can ever know if a god exists, but my money's on 'no'. I am sure that there are religious people who are agnostic, too, but on the opposite side of the coin to me. Basically, what I meant was that there is no way we can ever know, so believing that makes the most sense. Also, agnosticism generally exists in conjunction with another view, at least in my experience.

I call myself an atheist even though I'm agnostic. I'm technically an agnostic because I can not scientifically and definitly prove that there is not a god. However I also can't prove that Santa or Hogwarts don't exist. But I know my odds. Because of this I tell people atheist so that I don't have to explain the nature of my agnosticism.

Agnostics with atheist tendencies, Unite!

If you go to my bio there's a link to a Tumblr post I wrote about this. Has a lot more detail about my views. (if you would like)

Yeah I totally agree. I think most atheists (or at least the reasonable ones) could technically be categorized as agnostic because it's impossible to say with 100% certainty that God doesn't exist. I believe in God to the extent that I believe in fairies. I would say I believe in God to a slightly lower extent than I believe in Hogwarts.

I think agnostic atheist describes me pretty well because I don't believe in the existence of a god(s) or deity but I also know that there is no way to know that there is no god(s) or //something// that humans haven't discovered or are unable to comprehend.

It could be a scientific view as well because the questions about the origins and sustenance of the universe are scientific questions. Religion attempt to answer these questions so in a way, religion too is science, albeit ancient and obsolete.

This video makes it a bit obvious that the speaker thinks that Atheism is the right choice.
by Anonymous11 years ago
Yes, and also I made it clear in a previous comment that I am an agnostic atheist. I am well aware of what agnostic means.
by Anonymous11 years ago
It was more for the other people than you, Essem, and while the video is biased, the point still stands. It's annoying as fuck when people think they're agnostic, but not atheist
by Anonymous11 years ago
OK, I apologize. And I can see what you mean.
by Anonymous11 years ago
No problem~
by Anonymous11 years ago
That's a weird way of wording it. Theists and atheists can both be agnostic. I don't really see it as much of a religious view, but a view on whether one knows of the existence or nonexistence of a god
