+145 "God made women give birth because He knew guys wouldn't be strong enough to handle it" is a stupid quote because, if you're looking at it Biblically, He made women give birth as a punishment, amirite?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Keep in mind that the quote is probably from a woman.

I think it's kinda stupid anyway... Just my thoughts, but...If god knew giving birth would be painful and assumed guys couldn't handle it, why didn't make them so they could? I hope this made sense XD Because this quote gives me the impression of something like 'Meh, don't think guys can handle giving birth. Let's make woman do it." Or something

I agree. If childbirth wasn't supposed to be a punishment, it also probably wouldn't be painful. The baby would just slide out or something.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Well, actually, I wasn't saying it's a punishment or anything

I've never picked up a bible in my life. Can someone explain this?

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I don't recommend it. Anytime I touched one it burned me. But in the bible God made child birth painful as a punishment for something Eve did. I'm pretty sure it was apart of the eating an apple thing, but don't 100% remember. So according to the bible, child birth wasn't meant to be painful, but Eve's healthy food choices made God mad.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

What was up with that whole apple thing? I mean, having sex takes a lot of energy so you get hungry. There was nothing else for her to eat. (That's my understanding of eve's actions. Not sure if it's right)

God told Adam and Eve they could eat anything in the Garden of Eden except for the apples from the Tree of Knowledge (there were presumably other apple trees, I guess? And plenty of other food to eat...) After the serpent tricked Eve into eating the apple, and Eve took an apple to Adam to eat, they gained knowledge of right and wrong, they developed a conscience. As punishment for disobeying him, God banned them from the Garden of Eden, made childbirth painful, and made them mortal. So, while I agree with OP's point, if we're being technical, God didn't make women give birth as punishment, He made it painful as a punishment.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

That's not fair. Adam ate some of the apple too. And why didn't the serpent get punished? It was all his fault

HOLD ON GUYS... WHAT IF GOD IS AN ALIEN, CHILD BIRTH IS PAINFUL BECAUSE THEY DIDNT GET THE ALIEN MEDICATION THAT PUT THEN OUT, AND THEY WERENT BANISHED BUT RATHER RAN FROM THEIR OVERLORDS TO FREEDOM. AND THE APPLE WAS THE ALIEN'S LUNCH AND THEB HE WAS ALL LIKE "PLUCK, THE LAB RATS ATE MY LUNCH, GET OUT LAB RATS" lol sorry I'm watching achient aliens right now and this post came up.an

Genesis 3:14 KJV And the Lord God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life. Adam had to start growing his own food and jazz.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

No crap it's not fair. The bible is the birth of sexism in the West. I wasn't in any way defending it, I was simply summing up a few chapters of Genesis.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

that's a joke right? the bible is birth of sexism in the west? please read up on greek and roman culture, where sexism was practiced long before the abrahamic religions were popular.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I'll concede that it was in poor taste to say that, as well as an exaggeration, but you can't deny it was (and still is) a contributing factor.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Ok I'll agree with you there.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Adam got off way to easy with the punishment. Oh boo hoo he has to grow his own food now. Also, he pulled a major dick move and flat out blames Eve when God asks what happened. Not cool dude, she's your wife, you stand up for her.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Wrath of God > Wrath of Eve They also both became mortal.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Technically, they hadn't ever been immortal. God was just lucky (if you can put it that way) that A&E didn't eat from the Tree of Life. The idea being that had A&E eaten from both the Tree of Life and from the Tree of Sexuality (cause that's basically what it is) then they would have been basically gods, so God kicked them out before they became immortal.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

It's not birth that's the punishment. It's the difficulty that's the punishment.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

I find it funny that God told them not to eat it; if he hadn't mentioned it they wouldn't have wanted to. It's like signs like "don't walk on the grass". You hadn't even thought of walking on the grass until you read the sign. And why would God put the tree their anyway? Plus don't blame Eve, she didn't force-feed Adam or something. Pretty sure he could make up his own mind to eat it or not. But that is the hilarity of the Bible; it's like a badly edited story, where a normal person would've fired their editor for leaving so many mistakes and inconsistencies.
