+194 It's okay to illegally download music if you already own the music anyway, amirite?

Personally. I purchase a CD first. Or in more recent cases. I've gone out and bought the Music I've already downloaded

If you intend to purchase music, you purchase music. If you illegally download music, then you don't intend to purchase music.

I always get my songs for free illegally. I don't see a problem with it

Agreed.

I think the typical argument is that you're "stealing" from the artist who made the music because you're not paying them for it. But since they already make so much money as it is and live such a wealthy life I don't think it's a valid argument.

That's true, I was mainly thinking of mainstream artists when I commented, not really small bands that aren't super popular. I have mixed feelings about downloading music illegally, although I've done it countless times.

Why would you download it if you already own it?

I make an effort to support lesser-known artists, musicians that are musicians as a full-time job, doing it to get by in life. I could honestly care less if Katy Perry lost 2% profit from her multimillion dollar album/s.
