It's pretty stupid how when people are morbidly obese and labeled "handicapped", they basically have to do less. Hell, why not make them walk longer in the parking lot? Amirite?

They could be morbidly obese because of a handicap and you wouldn't know so it's pretty stupid to suggest making them walk longer in the parking lot. But even if that's not the case and they just made themselves fat, they could make themselves handicap by doing that; their weight puts a lot of pressure on their bones and I'm sure their heart isn't in too healthy of condition either. Physical exertion could end up being near fatal because of a heart attack and I'm sure nothing good comes from that kind of stress on your skeletal structure.

But then the handicap it legitimate; being obese isn't a handicap, while having an underlying issue could be.

Of coarse I don't want people being injured because they are trying to get healthy, or even just accomplish everyday tasks like walk to the shop, but I don't like that a lot of obese people use their weight as an excuse to not try. I'm not saying it would be easy to get to a healthy weight but if weight is the only barrier I don't think it is unreasonable to feel that people with a disease stopping them from exercising properly should be more likely to get the benefits that go with a handicap like closer parking, it's not like the benefits balance out a life long disease disabling your ability to move. Again people often use this as an excuse to stop trying but when those people are trying so hard everyday to fight a disease that could so easily run their life it really doesn't seem fair.

I'm not saying that, but the human body is not designed to carry around the kind of weight that morbidly obese people carry and when trying to lose that weight you must go about it in the right way. The weight you carry can severely damage knee joints because of the pressure the joints are under and when you start a large change in exercise you have to have help and make sure people are with you in case something bad happens like your knees giving way. You'd also be more likely to injure yourself as blood is pumping faster than usual and already having health issues you would be far more likely to have a heart-attack. Things like that have to be taken into consideration so yes, if not done properly the physical exertion can be a hindrance to their health.

I'm not saying for them to go out and run a marathon. But if they don't take action, it's only going to get worse.

Walking still isn't going to do much in terms of exercise and physical exertion at that point hinders their health and puts them at risk for being handicapped.

I completely agree, it's just that the comment that you posted made it sound, to me, like that's what you meant, and I try to leave room for individual situations so often my comments are very broad.

They should make an obese section in the back of all parking lots. That way, the fattys get to burn a few extra calories everyday, and the front of the parking lot won't be so full.

Haha that's so mean. It's not like all they need is a couple minutes of walking a day anyway. It wouldn't change anything.
