+158 Music today isn't "worse" than what you grew up with. Your parents probably thought your music was terrible compared to what their generation listened to. The reality is that times change and so do popular styles of music, and people should remember that the music that's popular is popular for a reason, amirite?

I mean my grandparents thought Elvis was the devil incarnate.

Actually I truly believe this is the first generation where music is actually 'worse'. It's the first generation to commercialize music this much, all popular music is now electronically enhanced with things like autotune, back beats from a machine, and things like Dubstep where Skrillex gets payed thousands of dollars a night to press play and stop on his Mac book. The talent has been taken out of the business so that it's just a beauty pagent and professionals can create the talent after picking who they want on their cover. Maybe that is just my 90's nostalgia acting up but I don't think 90's music was the best music ever, I think all music generations and fads in all of the 20th century have been better than most of what's been popular in the last 10 years

My parents actually liked the few uh... new(?) bands I listened to when I was younger, and they can't stand the crap on the radio now.

What's popular today is popular because people are idiots.

Katy Perry has sold 11 million albums and spent 69 weeks in the top 10. Justin Biber has sold 15 million albums and was named the 3rd most powerful celebrity in the world. Rihanna's sold over 25 million albums, and Lady Gaga 23 million. Wow... Out of all these people, THEY are all idiots, and clearly, YOU are the only one who isn't. Nice job.

All that proves is that there are millions of idiots, which we all already know.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

It proves that you think you're better than all those people for not liking popular music. When really, people deserve to like whatever music they want without being insulted or called an 'idiot'.

You have no idea what you're talking about.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Nope. But you're condescending and you think that your opinion is always right.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

Album sales =/= talent.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

No, not necessarily... But it does show that that number of people think they have enough talent to enjoy their music.

by Anonymous 11 years ago

That's exactly why I said you don't know what you're talking about. "You think that your opinion is always right"? I'm sure you know exactly what I'm thinking at all times. As if you're some mind reader.

What I said was true based on what I've seen in your comments on this post. If you only direct that kind of attitude towards me, then I'm sorry for assuming I wasn't an exception.

To be honest, I feel like this generation's music is crap. I didn't grow up in the 90s. Freddie Mercury was great but even he isn't the best. I think the best of all music was way back. People like Vivaldi, Beethoven, and Mozart- they were the true geniuses.
