+226 Everyone acts like you're disgusting if you miss a day or two of showering. But for almost all of human history, daily bathing was an unaffordable luxury. I guess all of those people were "disgusting" too, amirite?

Sounds like OP doesn't shower enough... Daily bathing isn't an unaffordable luxury anymore. People who didn't bathe often back then weren't considered disgusting because everyone else wasn't bathing either.

Well our society is changing. Other customs from way back when are considered weird now. People have had good dental hygene for a very short time.

That was then, this is now. NO ONE did it back then, everyone does it now. And if you stink like garbage, you're gross. If you can get away with out showering for 2 days that's fine, but 3 is pushing it. My point is that if your odor is offensive you're gross.

As long as you at least wash your pits crotch and face I don't think missing a day of showering is a big deal..... And for the record, it's actually damaging to your hair if you wash it every day.

How does it not? This post is about whether or not it's considered gross to skip a shower every now and then, and I was basically saying that you should bathe every day with the exception of your hair because 1 it's not gross like some people might think and 2 washing it daily can actually be damaging.

Washing your hair daily isn't bad, as long as you have a good shampoo and conditioner. This is from my Nana, who was a hairstylist, and still does hair on the side. I personally try to get a shower everyday, but if I don't have access to one/ I know I'm not going out anywhere it shouldn't matter as long as I don't smell bad.

I have colour-treated hair so I wash mine every other day, but I do always at least get it wet everyday. I just don't want my hair to be more chemically damaged than it already is! :P

Well, that makes sense, and I have a few friends that do the same. I have absolutely no color in my hair, so it gets washed pretty much every day. If I had color, which I will soon, I'd probably be more careful about how often I wash it.

Yeah those people kind of were disgusting... I understand that bathing wasn't something that most people could do, but that doesn't make the fact that many people went years without bathing less gross.

I know, right? Every other day has never given me any B.O complaints. My body lets me know when it is dirty because I can feel it, and certainly doesn't give me the warning signal after only 1 day

I know! I mean I can understand if you were exercising vigorously or went swimming or something - then you need to be because you're dirty. Filth doesn't normally accumulate that fast, though, if you're only doing normal everyday activities.
