Because caring more about legitimate occurrences than receiving a gift on FarmVille from my "friend" Paul Ackerman who I vaguely remember from my 7th grade baseball team means I have a crappy social life.

The thing is, if you had an awesome social life, you'd actually receive notifications for party invites, inbox messages and for numerous photo and post comments. Now if you have 8th graders as friends, or anti socil friends, than that would explain the game invites.

I'm sorry you think that's what a social life is. Nobody actually sends party invites on Facebook. And inbox messages aren't the same as notifications. Lots of Facebook notifications =/= a thriving social life.

Funny cause I do receive party invites on Facebook. If you prefer notifications from people you don't know on this website, compared to posts, pics, and comments from people within your social group, that's saying something...

Yeah, I think Anon may have misunderstood what I said. When I said "party invites," I meant on Facebook. Obviously I get invited to go places outside of Facebook.

On amirite notifications are usually about a topic you are genuinely interested in, such as comments on a post or messages with other intellectuals.

They used to be, but now I get heaps of notifications with replies to a thread I started in the forum so now they're annoying.
